Product Description A market leading 61m guide number illuminates subjects at distance unattainable by other branded flashguns Various different modes allow the flash to be either fully automatic or completely manual in operation EF-610 DG Super Produced in their legendary Aizu facility in Japan, Sigma presents their EF-610 DG Super electronic flashgun. Building on Sigma’s 50 years of innovation and heritage in the photographic industry, the EF-610 DG Super is a versatile and high performance flash gun, which boasts a market leading guide number of 61m. The DG Super packs an advance set of features which work to create accurate, consistent and precision lit images. Attaching via a traditional hot shoe, it is compatible with a wide range of modern DSLR cameras, making it a fantastic add on flashgun for any budding photographer. Flash by design The primary design feature of the DG Super is its 61 power guide number. With a maximum range of 61m, it is in a league of its own and capable of illuminating subjects at a distance unattainable by other brand units. With power saving in mind, the DG Super incorporates an environmental power-off feature which automatically switches the flash off when it is not used for a certain period of time. Simply depress the shutter button and the flash instantly powers on again. Sigma have also re-engineered the flash head design by greatly increasing its flexibility. It can now be tilted up by as much as 90 degrees, down by 7 degrees, swivelled left by 180 degrees and right by a further 90 degrees. The flexibility allows users to maximise light bouncing techniques in order to avoid over exposure. An inbuilt catch light panel can be easily extended over the flash, greatly softening the resulting illumination. When the catch light panel is used in conjunction with the bounce mode, a signature “sparkle” can be created in the eyes of a subject. As found with all Sigma products, the DG Super has been manufactured in Japan to the highest quality finish, ensuring it performs optimally throughout its working life. An ultra flexible flash head allows for the use of bounce photography Modes with multiplicity In order to accommodate the many wide ranging types of photography, the DG Super incorporates several modes, each designed with a different user in mind. Through The Lens (TTL) auto mode automatically configures the flashgun’s settings in order to create the optimal level of exposure to suit the specification of camera with which it is used. Rear-Curtain Synchro mode triggers the flash mechanism just before the rear-curtain of the camera shutter closes. In doing so, it helps to create more natural looking motion by showing blurred trails behind a subject as opposed to in front. Fast Pace (FP) mode reconfigures the flashgun to work in unison with fast camera shutter speeds. Flash photography is not normally viable at high shutter speeds but thanks to this setting, optimal illumination can be achieved even in fast pace circumstances. Finally, a fully manual mode allows, perhaps, a more discerning user to completely customise the various settings of the flashgun. In manual mode, the flash power level for example, can be increased or decreased to best suit the shooting situation. Rear Curtain Syncro mode recreates more natural looking motion within an image Functions with functionality The DG Super has various inbuilt functions which assist a photographer in achieving the desired levels of illumination. Prior to any photograph being taken, a modelling flash function allows a user to preview the results of their current flash settings. In doing so, areas of intense reflection and shadow can be quickly identified and corrected prior to the formal shoot. An autozoom function automatically sets the optimum illumination angle of the flashgun in line with a camera’s focal length. This function can work with a maximum range of focal lengths from 24mm up to 105mm and can also include 17mm when the built in wide panel is used. An inbuilt AF auxiliary light allows a user to accurately autofocus a camera even in low light conditions where auto-focussing is normally impossible. The autozoom automatically sets the illumination angle of the flashgun in line with a cameras focal length No wires Unique to the DG Super, the TTL mode can also be used wirelessly. The flashgun head contains sensors that can automatically detect and configure settings simply by sensing the flash exposure from another unit. This function combined with the ability to operate as a slave flash, means that the DG Super can be used as a fully autonomous illumination source. When using as a slave flash unit, the DG Super can operate in two different ways. Firstly as a designated slave flash where two or more units can be preset to fire with a delay or simultaneously. Secondly, as a normal slave flash where the DG Super simply reacts to another master unit including a camera’s built in flash. A flashgun most applicable for With a wide ranging number of functions and features, the Sigma DG Super flashgun has a wide ranging appeal to photographers of all different skill levels. The various automated features such as the TTL and autozoom can accommodate entry level photographers but at the same time suffice the more stringent requirements of expert users. The various wireless features mean that the DG Super can be used as a standalone studio flash. Thanks to a GN61, the DG Super incorporates the power required to be effective outdoors but also performs equally well indoors thanks to features such as the flexible neck. Easy to use and packed with functionality.....the Sigma DG Super is a great performance all round flashgun that can be used by all.
